Founded in 1856 by James J. Murphy and hsi 4 brothers; the original name of the brewery was The Lady’s Well Brewery. The brewery foundation was built next to a water well that frequented by locals and blessed by members of the local church. It quickly became one of the largests breweries in Ireland.
