June 30, 1919. The hammer of American injustice came crashing down and Prohibition began. Beer was banned. Barrels were broken. Breweries went belly up and recipes were lost. When beer became legal again, 14 years later, it wasn’t the same.

BATCH19 beer is inspired by the revival of those authentic, pre-Prohibition recipes. It’s a stiff reminder of what the final batches tasted like before 1919. Back when life was simple and beer had a backbone.

Not your expected hop pairing by today’s standards, our lager is brewed using hand-selected Hersbrucker hops for a subtle, herbal aroma and Strisselspalt hops for notes of black currants. The hop character is balanced by just the right amount of caramel maltiness for a crisp, clean finish.

Appearance: A deep golden color that’s naturally filtered and unpasteurized; capped with a full, white head.
Aroma: Biscuity malt aroma with herbal notes from the Hersbrucker hops and black currant notes from the Strisselspalt hops.
Taste: Bold, hoppy taste that’s balanced by a subtle caramel maltiness.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, medium-bodied lager with a moderate carbonation.
Finish: Crisp, clean finish with a lingering hop taste that gradually fades.
Food Match: The caramel malt character and herbal notes go great with any two- or four-legged animal that’s been roasted, braised, smoked, pan-fried, or charred. It goes especially well with bacon and strong cheese.
